Release Notes: Accounts Plus (Compac) v63b

The next update to Accounts Plus (Compac) is now available, with a number of fixes and improvements, and some layout updates which contain a number of fixes to reported issues (mainly to correct iXBRL filing issues).  Full details of the update and layout changes can be found below, along with a brief explanation of what is in store over the coming months.  We highly recommend that all users update to the new version as soon as possible.

Ongoing development

The coming months will see more of the collaboration between Colin Harding and Keytime.  As you can appreciate, the iXBRL version of Compac prompted an unprecedented demand for technical support and we've responded by allocating a dedicated support resource for Compac, which should see response times improve.  You can contact us on 0161 484 3500 or by email to support@keytime.co.uk.

Future upgrades on the agenda include integration with Keytime Client Manager and Corporation Tax; we will also be addressing the filing of accounts with Companies House, who as you will know, are to mandate on-line filing by 2013.

Update to software

  • Output to XBRL now produces only one html file.  Previous builds were producing more than one html, which caused confusion and lead to submission failure due to the incorrect file being attached to the return.
  • Fixed a problem that was returning ‘multi-length’ errors from the Gateway.
  • Runtime error 9 subscript out of range when loading the taxonomy tree has been fixed.
  • Wide schedules, such as some tangible assets, are more efficiently condensed, by font or by narrowing columns 3 onwards to the width of the text. Because of word wrap, column 2 is only narrowed manually or by the condensed fonts.
  • The rarely used Layout test for the presence (or absence) of another Layout within the accounts has been corrected (no more stray “1”s or missing sentences).
  • Missing currency signs in some very old Layouts have been recovered.
  • The Currency sign set in Configuration is now the default and any client can have its own currency sign set via top menu, Database.
  • The default Currency code for iXBRL is set in Configuration and any client can have its own currency code set via top menu, Database. This is independent of the currency sign.

Update to layouts

  • XBRL - Removal of untagged rows - you should see just tagged information on this page now.
  • CA1A - Directors’ report – The “Auditors” section is now skipped if there is no audit.
  • CA4 - Statutory P&L - row 65, the current year value was tagged as previous year. Tag for code 220 is the same as 219 on row 64, so use either code 220 or codes 217-219 but not both.
  • CA5A - Balance sheet part 2, (and Dormant accounts) – Unchanged – a missing sentence will reappear with the new programme release but some users will have edited it.
  • CF0 - Cash flow - row 38, purchase of fixed assets, was tagged as sale of fixed assets.
  • CA11 - Operating profit - row 31: +C128:130+C990 changed to +C128:131+C990. Formula was missing director’s compensation for loss of office; this also results in a duplicate fact value error being returned from the Gateway.
  • CA8 - Bank interest - sign reversal.
  • CA15 - Intangible fixed assets - Patents etc. amortisation charge for the year was tagged as aggregate amortisation and resulted in a duplicate fact value error being returned from the Gateway.
  • CA21 - Creditors less than one year - [t31] on last row (text was reported to appear on some systems)
  • CA22 - Creditors greater than one year - [t35] on last row (text was reported to appear on some systems)
  • CF4 - Analysis of net debt - surplus tags have been removed from sub totals in row 22. As the sub totals had the same tags as the grand totals, a duplicate fact value error was being returned from the Gateway.
  • M6 - Abbreviated Balance Sheet part 2 - addition of words “and delivered”.

Updating your software

  1. Ensure that you have taken a recent backup of your Accounts Plus data.
  2. Close all Keytime software.
  3. Download the update choosing Run or Save from:  v63b download
  4. Open the update and follow the on-screen prompts.  Click Next until the files copy.  Click Finish when prompted to close the installer.
  5. Restart the PC if prompted.
  6. Open Accounts Plus, and you should see that the version number is now v63b.

Updating your layouts

If you are using the standard LTD format, you may wish to just apply the updated layouts straight away.  Instructions are provided below.

After installing the update, you should notice two new folders on your desktop: New Formats for Compac LTD and New Formats for Compac LLP.

  1. Open the New Formats for Compac LTD folder.
  2. You should see a list of 12 files.
  3. Select all the files (either click and drag a box around them, or using shift + click).
  4. Press Ctrl+C to copy the files, or right-click and select Copy.
  5. Browse to your Compac data folder.
  6. Open the LTD folder, and press Ctrl+V, or right-click and Paste.

Repeat from Step 1 but for the New Formats for Compac LLP folder.

If you have made amendments to your LTD format, you may wish to add the updated layouts individually - please contact support if you need any help with the steps to take.

CA5A - It would be helpful if you said what sentence was missing

CA21 & CA22 - I'm not sure what you have you have done with [t31] and [t35]. Isn't the text which appears from those data base entries?

M6 - The wording if you are filing abbreviated accounts remains "prepared". The word "delivered" (without "prepared") should be used if you take the option introduced by CA 2006 of just filing a balance sheet and the related notes, apparently. Quite why you should want to do that I don't know.
