This short article will explain the differences between a Site Licence and a Workgroup.

Site Licence

This type of licence is typically used at multi-user sites for laptop PC's that need to run a seperate copy of a Pastel database, normally used by remote workers who do not have access to a network connection to the main database.

These users can either access a copy of the main database, or run their own database.

Users that take a copy of the main database off the network will be able to make changes to the database and read all data entered, but this will not synchronise with the main database.

The most common users of this type of licence are business owners/managers who need to look at accounting data when at home or away from the office, or sales people who need access to customer information when making site visits.

Workgroup

This is a typical network attached desktop/laptop and it is licenced via the server and accesses the main Pastel database along with all other networked users
