From a recent Keytime Support call. Many agents and individuals may be unaware that you can only currently file tax returns for the 2008/09 and the 2009/10 tax years. This is why we have disabled the Submit buttons on the 2007/08 (2008), 2006/07 (2007), 2005/06 (2006) and 2004/05 (2005) tax years. It is only since HMRC changed their gateway (last year) that returns of the previous tax year can be filed. It is unclear if HMRC will extend this, to allow filing of other tax years, in the future, Of course, the client will continue to incur fines from HMRC for returns submitted after the deadline.
Customer is trying to file a 2007 tax return online but after going through the check screen there is no submit button.
I explained to the customer that the HMRC has shut down 2007 returns and no longer accepts them. HMRC only accepts 2008/09 and 2009/10 returns.
I told the customer that the next step now would be to contact HMRC directly.
