About the release

Exclamation.png Important Information – Please Read Me

This update contains a significant change to Client Manager (since version 5.0.3.6), affecting the way in which address details interact with Accounts Production. Read more about this important change below in "Previous Release Notes".  If you have a networked version of Accountants Suite installed, please run the update on all your workstation clients.

Please Note: This update is currently being sent on disc to all registered Accountant Suite Professional users.  If you purchase any other of the Accountants Suite modules you should receive your disc over the next 10 days.

This update contains the following product builds:

  • Tax 2010 (version 1.0.7.0)
  • Corporation Tax (version 5.0.3.2)
  • Trust Tax (version 1.0.3.1)
  • Accounts Production (version 4.0.3.8)
  • Client Manager (version 5.0.3.10)
  • P11d 2010 (version 1.0.1.1)

Tax

This now includes an updated estimated 2011 tax calculation using the new rates for that year.

PLEASE NOTE:  the provisional calculations use the new tax rates etc but any Capital Gains will be shown as all chargeable at the higher  28% rate due to the fact that the new boxes for the changes in the last budget are not yet available on the forms.

You will need to calculate an adjustment for this manually.

Trusts

A single page tax calculation has now been added to the programme in addition to the Form SA951 and the tax pool is also now calculated automatically.

Previous Release Notes

In addition to fixing a number of defects reported, the update contains the following changes and enhancements:

Tax Professional

An updated Tax office address file is now available.  To update the tax office address file launch Tax 2010 and open any tax return, click the Tools menu, select Options, select Configure, click the Import Options tab and click the Import button to import tax office address changes.  Please note that this will overwrite any manual changes you have made to the tax office address file data.  There is no effect on the tax office address details displayed on the front cover of the tax return, as seen in client personal details and page 1 one the tax return.

Trust Tax

Internet filing management has been added; click Submit on the main tool bar (as Tax 2010).  You can now file amended returns and attachments.

Corporation Tax

The option to specify your PDF location has been added, this can be found by clicking the Print button on the main toolbar, click the Options button.  An output to PDF button has been added to the Print menu; you can now output to PDF regardless of the default output setting by clicking this button.

Accounts Production

Significant changes have been made to stabilise and improve the speed of this application, particularly in networked environments.  Networked users can expect to see improvements in the time taken to launch grids (Trial Balance for example) and a smoother feel when moving between tabs and windows.

You can now add a manual page break to the detailed profit and loss report.  To do this, click the Options menu, select Configure, click Detailed P&L Page Break, click the Page Break button and click the section where you wish to insert the page break; the break will occur at the end of the previous section, for example, if you add the page break at Administrative Expenses, the page will break after the section above admin expenses.

Changes to Address Integration in Sole Trader and Individual Records in Client Manager

Prior to build 5.0.3.6 sole traders and individuals were kept as separate records; you couldn’t add an SA100 job to a sole trader, although it was possible to add an accounts production job to an individual.

Client Manager build 5.0.3.6 contains a new sole trader record type; the sole trader record has been merged with the individual and now contains fields for the individual’s name, UTR, DOB and NI number and also allows you to add an SA100 job.

Existing individual records can be upgraded to a sole trader record retaining all the detail you added to the original individual record including any correspondence and communication records.  You now can add an SA100 to existing sole trader records; these can also be downgraded to individual record types retaining all the detail you added to the original sole trader record apart from the business name, which will be lost as you downgrade.

At this point, and before upgrading it is important that you understand how the various address tabs are updated within the individual and sole trader record types.

In Client Manager builds prior to 5.0.3.5 sole traders and individual records that have an Accounts Production job updated from/to the address in address tab 1.  From build 5.0.3.5 accounts production will update from/to address tab 2, this enables you to keep a business address separate from the clients main contact address, they could, of course, be the same address.

Practical implications for this build

Now you aware of the changes, it is important that you understand the practical implications for your data.  The only record types affected are sole traders and individuals where there is an Accounts Production job.

The Effect on Individuals and Sole Traders

The only records that will be affected are sole traders and those individuals that have an Accounts Production job; the system will now look to address tab 2 to update the accounts.  As the update is applied the system will not automatically populate address tab 2, this is because the address may already be in use to store some other address.  If you make a change to the record and click the Save button, the change will trigger changes to other modules,  if address tab 2 doesn’t contain an address, or contains some other address you will find that the address in Accounts Production will also be updated with this change, meaning the address is removed or changed in the accounts.

The situation can easily be remedied by either entering the address in Accounts Production; this will save the address back to address 2 in Client Manager, or by going to address tab 2 in the record in Client Manager and clicking the button to copy address 1 to address 2 (where the addresses are the same) and click Save.
