When trying to add a company is when this error normally comes up usually on a network environment. This error is normally caused by permissions of the pastel folder and/or read only is selected.

In the rare instance where permissions are set to full, you will need to goto Pastelxx -> Custom -> registration and ensure the company.dat file has full permission and is not set to read only.

This then corrects the error
